G/BMaP Biospecimen Mapping in Region 6

A supplement to the SFSU-UCSD and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center U54grants was awarded in September 2010. The overall goal of the G/BMaP supplement is to conduct an inventory, and needs assessment of resources to develop a regional hub for research on human biospecimens from underrepresented minority populations in region 6 (Alaska, California, Oregon, Washington, and the Pacific Islands). These efforts have been tailored to prepare for P01, R01 and R25 funding opportunities that will be released in 2011. HEI team member, Dr. Márquez-Magaña, is a member of the 12-person Core Coordinating Committee. The completed Readiness Assessment Tool (RAT) was submitted on April 30, 2010, documenting SFSU's capacity and needs for engagement in biospecimen research. On February 15, 2011 information regarding SFSU's capacity for training and community-engagement in biospecimen research was submitted.
